Tuesday forecast: scattered showers possible
by The Oregonian
Tuesday December 02, 2008, 4:53 AM
Another typical winter day lies ahead: a little rain, a few clouds, some wind. Today's temperatures will climb into the lower 50s. Wish we had cheerier weather news for the rest of the week, but looks like more of the same is on the way. Sunshine will be scarce, though there's a chance of some Thursday.
Morning clouds expected to give way to afternoon rain
by The Oregonian
Monday December 01, 2008, 4:52 AM
December gets underway with a bit of classic winter weather. Think clouds and rain. And today we get both. Monday starts off cloudy. By afternoon, things may get wet in the Portland area. The daytime high will land in the mid 50s. Sunshine will be scarce the rest of the week with daytime temperatures hovering in the 50s.
If you've got a spare minute before heading out this morning, spend it here. The Oregonian's own Joseph Rose kicks off his commuting blog, Hard Drive, with musings about how we get around.
And if you've got a couple minutes to spare this morning, well, take our Monday Morning Quiz. Which director was born in New York on this date? Hint: Before he changed his name, he was Allan Stewart Konigsberg. Still don't know?
Maybe this will help: he directed this 1977 classic film starring Diane Keaton.
Happy Monday.
Oregon's Storm King reconsiders gale of 2007
by Stuart Tomlinson, The Oregonian
Sunday November 30, 2008, 9:01 PM
The Storm King was skeptical.
It was the first weekend of December 2007, and the National Weather Service office in Portland was tracking an offshore storm it believed would trigger its first-ever hurricane force wind warning.

Portland weather: fog, then some clouds
by The Oregonian
Friday November 28, 2008, 5:20 AM
Portland's weather forecast for Black Friday begins with fog, progresses to clouds and peaks with a high near 48. Saturday is looking pretty much the same. Might be a good time for some aerobic indoor, economy-boosting shopping.
Or deep thinking.
Which brings us to my deep thoughts.

by The Oregonian
Wednesday November 26, 2008, 4:48 AM
Here's something to be thankful for: a dry day. And it looks like we're in for one today. Tomorrow? Not so much. Wednesday gets off to a foggy start, but then the sun makes an afternoon appearance. Temperatures will hover in the lower 50s by afternoon. But Thanksgiving 2008 may be remembered as a wet one. The holiday forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of rain and a high just shy of 50 degrees.
Let's get to some fun stuff. First, did you hear about the little shrimp that could? And here's a little clip to get you into the Thanksgiving spirit.
Happy Wednesday.
Cool and wet Tuesday on tap
by The Oregonian
Tuesday November 25, 2008, 4:50 AM
A pretty classic fall day on tap for Tuesday. The good folks of the National Weather Center are calling for a 50 percent chance of rain and a high only reaching the upper 40s. Check here for more on a fog warning issued for the Portland metro area this morning. Turkey Day's looking wet and chilly, too.
It's Nov. 25. This guy would have turned 94. Happy Birthday, Joe.
Happy Tuesday.
Monday forecast: plenty of sunshine
by The Oregonian
Monday November 24, 2008, 4:42 AM
Monday may prove to be the week's bright spot. Today's forecast is looking pretty sunny with daytime temperatures sticking to the lower 50s. Clouds and a chance of rain roll into the region on Tuesday and stick around through Thanksgiving. The holiday will be a little chillier with temperatures dropping into the mid 40s for most of the day.
Couple of things to share this Monday morning. This litter of Shibu Inu puppies have become international sensations thanks to a web cam. A staggering 4 million people have checked in on the pups so far. And now you can too.
And if you still have a minute after you've watched the Shiba Inu puppies, then waste it by watching this:
Happy Monday.
